A UK dad has been lauded on TikTok for his “f***ing petty” but hilarious response to a teacher’s criticism of his daughter’s school lunch box.

Ross Hunt, owner of wax melt business Teddy Eva Scents, told his 66.4K followers in the clip earlier this week that he’d created a label for his daughter Isabelle’s lunch box because “the kids in school have been getting sh*t off one of the dinner ladies for eating non-healthy food”.

“‘Oh, don’t eat that. Eat your sandwich. Oh, you shouldn’t have that,’” he said, impersonating the staff members.

“That’s f***ing irritating and it [scares] Isabel off from taking her lunch with her.”

Pointing out the school’s double standards, the dad added, “It’s all right if you eat the chocolate cake the school gives you, but you put one in their lunch box, they go, ‘Oh, no you shouldn’t have that.’”

The school’s actions prompted him to make a label for his daughter’s lunch box, so that when staff opened it up, they read: “Welcome to Isabel’s lunch box. We are aware of the contents of this box and are happy for Isabel to eat whatever she wants.”

“There she is. I also came up with a second label, but [his wife] Rachel said no,” Mr Hunt joked.

“It says, ‘Step away from the lunchbox, you f***ing nosey arse bandit’. I think we’d get in trouble for that one. I was tempted to ram it full of sweets, but no, we shan’t put that in. I just wanted to fill it full of them. Yeah, sure, stop telling kids what they should and shouldn’t eat. Let the [muted] parents decide.”

Hundreds of people flocked to the comments of the video – which swiftly went viral on the platform – declaring that “it’s one rule for them and one rule for parents”.

“It’s a nightmare,” one mum wrote. “They promote healthy eating but my child comes home saying they had pizza and chips and some cake so which part of that is healthy.”

“Give them a chance with the first label,” joked another. “If it doesn’t change … label two.”

“I work in a school and have this argument often,” commented one person.

“I would rather a child ate and was full than lots of ‘healthy’ foods they won’t eat.”

To which another worker agreed, writing, “Worked in a school which served cake but we had to confiscate a Penguin Bar from a kid’s lunch box as it’s not allowed. It’s silly tbh.”
