Police detain four, seize AK47, cutlass and other items in Debe | Loop Trinidad & Tobago

Police said four men are in custody after an AK47 rifle, a revolver, a cutlass, a quantity of ammunition, and an assortment of items believed to have been stolen, were found and seized in Debe.

The suspects are between the ages of 20 and 44, from Couva and Penal.

Loop News was told that at around 10:20 pm on Thursday night, officers of the Debe Highway Patrol Unit and HP Task Force were on a joint exercise duty on the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, under the supervisions of Inspector Cadette, Sgt Jairaj, Cpl Maharaj, Cpl Lulkool and Cpl Dhanasar, when they observed a Nissan Almera speeding along the southbound lane.

The officers moved to intercept the vehicle and observed the occupants of the car throw out a series of objects.

The vehicle was intercepted, and the items that were thrown out were recovered.

They included a blue lunch bag containing a quantity of cash of various currencies, a white plastic bag containing an AK47 and a revolver, together with 18 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and six live rounds of .38 ammunition, a cutlass, as well as a black plastic bag containing auto electronics and accessories.

Police said the four were detained and their homes were searched.

The four matched the description of persons who had conducted a robbery around 2:30 pm at Papourie Road, San Fernando.
