Crookston Classic Cruisers Annual Run to the Inn will be today and Saturday, at the Crookston Inn, with a Meet and Greet today at 7:00 p.m. Registration will be from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 20, and will have a Swap Meet and Car Corral, Live DJ, and Show and Shine from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Rydell National Wildlife Refuge will host a special Mentored Youth Deer Hunt for kids ages 12-15 in cooperation with the Minnesota DNR and the Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association on October 29 and 30. Youth must attend a mandatory orientation session that happens on Sunday, October 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interested youth must apply for this hunt no later than today. Applications can be completed at any DNR license agent or online. When applying for this hunting opportunity, note that the Rydell Refuge Hunt is number “957”. Brost Chevrolet is sponsoring a Vikings tailgate yard party contest for the Ox Cart Days Torchlight Parade on Saturday, August 20! The public is invited to the 2022 Crookston High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony to be held on Saturday, August 20, in the Crookston High School Commons. The cost is $50 for those needing certification and for those not needing certification the class is free. The Benedictine Living Community in Crookston is holding a Golf Glow Ball Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday, September 10, at the Minakwa Golf Course. Registration is from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. with the Shotgun Start of the first nine holes at 4:00 p.m. Supper will be served along with raffle drawings, and awards. The Crookston Splash Pad at the Ray Ecklund Complex is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. through Labor Day.

The Crookston High School is opening its Weight Room for all High School students to use this summer. The Room will be open Monday through Friday for 9th-12th grade students from 6:00 to 7:15 a.m. or 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for 7th and 8th-grade students from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, running from May through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut into four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away. Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only.
