The 2022 Rydell National Wildlife Refuge Mentored Youth Deer Hunt for youth between the ages of 12 and 15 is extending its registration period to Friday, October 14 as there are still five unfilled sports for youth hunters. The hunt will be held on Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30. Youth interested in participating in the hunt must have completed the Firearms Safety Training and have a mentor attend a mandatory four-hour orientation session on Sunday, October 23. Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, running from May through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut into four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away. Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only.
